Switching to Class A Gas

Selling 5th wheel and getting a Class A. We like the Winniebago Vista but I also found a Fleetwood Terra. Any pro's or con's on the units? The Terra is a new leftover 14.
  • Do you plan on using a toad? Do you plan on towing anything? We went from a towable to a gas MH and were very disappointed at the poor towing capability and the extreme engine noise in the cabin. We ended up trading it in for a DP motorhome which has better towing and much better noise level.
  • We have a /Vista 30T 2014. Tows our Honda CRV just fine, don't know its back there except for the camera show its still following. I don't like the Schwink (sp ??) push out track hardware. I also had to install a Safety Plus to help stabilize the tracking and for blow out assistance.

  • Make sure you research Schwintek slide mechanisms on the Winnebago. They have lots of problems with them, even on their top line models. There seems to have been a fix on newer models, but you should be aware of what the problems were.
  • Either brand, or any size in that brand, are set to tow up to 5000 pounds. They both have the power to tow that 5000 pounds up any mountain road in the East or the West.
I would lean towards the Fleetwood because it appears that the Winnebago fiberglass roof is still attached/glued to the sidewall frame. As we have read on this forum, the roof can come loose and Winnebago will blame it on the owner for failure to watch the roof sidewall joint on a daily basis.

Gas motorhome will tow it just fine without any issues, as to noise issues with a gas motorhome as you need to do is sound prof under dog house and under floor by driver/passenger seats up front and the noise level can be half.

Many gas motorhomes have no sound proofing material in these areas.
