With gas a diesel prices falling so fast it appears that this summer will not only be affordable but likely crowded in the Popular RVing areas of the country.In Maryland we are seeing Diesel at $1.80-$1.90 and Gas at $1.70 - $1.80. What are the real prices across the country?Seems like not that long ago driving back to Maryland from Colorado was close to $1,000 now I might get out and back for that, and have some change in my pocket.Hoping the pricing stabilizes and the world just gets back to NORMAL. what ever that is.Just reflecting,

Given the difficulty of building new refineries and the types of crude that the California refineries were built to handle and the fact that most of them have to run flat-out to try and keep up with demand, it could be just simple economics and wear and tear on the equipment.But look at the situation in Canada and the current exchange rates. They may soon be paying us to travel north of the border.

(In Oklahoma)I remember $.24.9 in 71' and $1.79 in 1980 just hoping for something that is more normal and not like the stock market.Busskipper

Maybe their thought is, we've cut back on production due to excessive control by CARB and failure to let us build new refineries due to influence by Greenies, so while we raise prices to reflect those problems, let us raise prices twice as much as necessary to make a good profit. After all it's what the State Government will allow us to do and what they do.Has nothing to due with who has control of every elected State office does it?A second generation, pro Californian who is anti-one party rule.

I wonder how much of that pricing circus is coming from oil companies and how much from stations owners. When you see diesel in one station at $1.86 and other sells it for $3.20...as far as I know for the region all fuel comes from the same refinery at the same price.

The price to travel is getting VERY AFFORDABLE.

I'm thinking that I'm losing money here with these gas prices, while we're jumping up and down with glee and happiness...lol....and not like i burn a lot of fuel anyway.
Since the price for a barrel of oil has a lot to do with the economy in general, it's price pretty much affects everybody and if you're in to the stock market in some fashion, whether privately or with mutual funds that are maybe tied in to your retirement funds, then you must notice how much you've all been losing lately and pretty much because of oil prices.
It's like losing thousands to save hundreds in a lot of cases and sometimes, one must be careful with what they wish for.

It happenned in WI a number of times. Refineries in Gary closed and we have gas prices a half buck higher than any in Midwest.

Several areas are reporting Gasoline prices (regular) UNDER 1.00, have not seen that since the 1970's. I can remember 8 years ago when it hit 4.17/gallon (National average) and people were talking about how it was going to 5.00 (did in a few places as I recall)

As for the cost of Rotella..... This is a specialty product, highly refined (And processing still costs money) But the result of this is that it will take TIME for the lower price to fliter down on Specialty products.

Still.. Nice not having to take out a loan to fill the tank.

I waited until I could not, to see the price of tires decline because of dropping the price of oil.

No decline in price yet......

Why is the price of Rotella T still $69/5 gal. The price of crude is 29.42 yet canned oil is priced at the $140/bbl price. Are we being gouged?

I swear Washington state does the same thing. Never could understand how gas/diesel was more expensive in the communities right next to the refineries? We will take advantage of the gas prices now, as I'm sure they will go up in the future.

In my county the cheapest gas station also has liquor store.
From what I heard, they make about 2 cents profit on each gallon of gas, but would gladly give the gas at below the cost, just to get the customers buying liquor.
Than comparing downtown station to suburban.
Downtown commercial lot can cost $2 millions and property taxes will be proportional. Hard to compare to station build on $50k land.
Than you will have 2 stations on the same intersection having 20 cents price difference.

I used to routinely fill up the DP in Chesterfield, SC because I passed through there almost every week and it was $.30 to $.50 a gal cheaper than here in NC. Then one station sold out and raised the price to more than it was at home and the other stations followed. Haven't spent a dime there since because it was obvious gouging or should I say price fixing since they all did it. My local station is $2.02 for diesel and up the road it is $1.72 so I fill up every other day (50 gal) up the road and save $15---it adds up quick.
