- scbwrExplorer III use them when we're staying somewhere for more than a few days such as when we are in Florida in the winter. It may be debatable as to whether I really need to when I prefer to replace tires before they become a problem i.e. even with our rig stored indoors, I will probably replace them by year 7, sooner if needed.
- crawfordExplorerI use them all the time why take chances for a few bucks and a little time. after all safety first all else is BS
- js218ExplorerNever used them I've replaced the tire once all ready but got 148,000 miles out of them
- Two_JayhawksExplorerI've never used them but we also don't stay in any place that long. Every RV tire ages out well before they wear out- generally speaking. Will covering them help me get more than 7 years out of my tires? Or am I just insuring the condition for the farmer that's gets my take off's?
- Blaster_ManExplorerI always use covers, here's a link to the best looking tire covers around, Magne Shade http://magneshade.com/
Here's what they say about color:
"Our most popular selling color combination is Black Fabric with Black Binding. The black and brown fabrics offer the best heat protection and UV control." - Dale_TravelingExplorer IIWhen not on the road mine are covered. Last set of tires were replaced at 9 years and 54,000 miles with no side wall cracks or deformities.
- fyrflieExplorer IIIHere’s a report.

I have always used covers. - Executive45Explorer IIIIMO, tire mfgs build UV protection into the tires during the mfg process. As the tires rotate and warm up, this protection comes to the surface of the tire and does it's job. However, if a tire simply sits for a period of time, this protection fails as it cannot come to the surface which is one of the reasons why it's recommended to take your RV out for a spin periodically. If you don't do this then covering your tires is a good idea. The biggest advantage is in the temp drop from the sun which is easily measured. IIRC, white covers drop the temps about 38% while black drops it about 31%. Tire covers also have another plus, they tend to keep the rims from getting dirty...:)....Dennis

Would appreciate a link to that report.
I would have assumed that most of the tire covers do block UV. - Dick_BExplorerA report awhile ago showed that tire covers don't do anything to protect the tires from UV rays BUT do tend to keep the tires cooler in the hot sun which adds to their life; in white, of course.
