I think you ARE "one of the lucky ones". I got out of aviation a while back, after decades of flying and ownership, and I miss it dearly. Age 77 here, as well.
Currently own and drive a 43' Tiffin, but I miss flying. Enjoy, my friend. "shame to ruin a good airplane"....LOL.
