Towed Vehicle

Hello All,
I am new to all this and still learning, so why do you call the vehicle you are towing a Dingy?

I know and trust my grammar, it's my gramper, I'm worried about...:B:B....Dennis
  • Thanks to texting, emailing and not learning how to spell any longer communication in the future may be even harder as the 'right English' becomes unknown.

I knew I was in trouble when my 10-12th grade English teacher said, "Boy I a'int got no hope for you." :)
  • Well, since we're discussing the right english... your title to this post was:

    "tow vehicle"

So, just so we're talking the right english... a "tow vehicle" is one that is DOING the towing...not the one being towed. Your title should have read:

    "Towed Vehicle"

Ok, now back to the story...
  • I understand people have different ways of spelling words. But when they are pronouncing the way its spelled, and remember I am new to this. I just want to make sure I am speaking the right ENGLISH.
  • :B

    I sense the presence of a Kindred-Spirit-English-Major!

As I'm sure you already know, O.P., the correct word is "dingHy"...many folks overlook that "H" when typing!
  • I thought it had something to do with boats(at least I hoped it was),because I surely don't want something dingy (dirty) following behind me. Thanks
