TOWING TRAILER

I HAVE AN OLDER 16 FT FLAT BED TRAILER WITH TANDEM AXLES. I WANT TO PULL THE TRAILER BEHIND MY 38 FT HOLIDAY RAMBLER WITH MY 2014 BUICK ENCORE OR MY 2005 FORD LARIAT ON IT. THE QUESTION I HAVE IS WHAT KIND OF TIRES SHOULD I HAVE ON THE TRAILER TO SAFELY HAUL A VEHICLE ON IT.15 INCH RIMS? CURRENTLY HAVE P235 R 75 X 15.
  • You need to consider ALL aspects of towing a trailer.

Your towing capacity is normally the lowest of:

    - GCWR minus weight of MH when ready to travel (loaded).

    - Hitch capacity.

    - MH tow capacity.

    - Chassis tow capacity...some times the last two are different.

    Read this..

Then buy your tires according to your load.
  • I have that same size tire on a 32ft enclosed trailer with a car inside. Never had a tire problem---I have Wranglers from Wal Mart on there right now with 40lbs of air-----towed about 10,000mi in the last year......don't make it more difficult than it is.
  • Weigh your trailer with the vehicle on it. Then choose a tire rated for that load or better yet choose a tire that is rated a little higher than your requirements.:)
  • Not sure anyone will reply to this with your cap locks on... Its like shouting and you demand an answer IMO...

    Sorry its just rude..

    My opinion though....
