Travels west

Any thoughts on route 20 from Albany, NY to Buffalo, NY rather than the Rt 90 thruway? Is that route worth the effort road condition wise and time wise? Thanks John McDonough.

We love 20, it goes into every little town along the way. once upon a time it was the road to take, because there was no thruway.

We drive the two and four lane roads all the time, did that route one year never again -- the three hour drive took 8-10 hours and was really hard on the coach. Stop go - stop go -- stop go - stop go I think you get the idea, literally every light in every town was red. MPG's dropped 30% and it was just painful to never drive for more thana few minutes at a time. Have driven all around the Finger Lakes and it was great - same with the Adirondacks, some roads just don't work for more than a few miles 20 is one of the few roads that I just hated.

If you're not in a hurry and are good with 100 mile days it might be fun but if you think you will drive and make any time just didn't work for me. Only good thing is the old Barns, just beautiful.

    JMHO,
