Just returned from a 3 month trip to St. Charles, Mo. and Mahomet, Il.
Being from California we enjoyed all the rain, flood warnings and tornado warnings. Trip was not without problems. We were in Laramie, Wyoming when I felt something but then everything seemed ok. Headed up the grade out of Laramie headed for Cheyenne when I began to lose power. I pulled over and noticed a puddle of oil behind the motorhome. I call Coach net and they towed me into Big Al's a small shop on the East side of Cheyenne. The service manager put us on a concrete pad in front of the shop and hooked us up to electricity over night. They next morning they discovered that the dip stick tube had gotten too close to manifold and burned a hole in it and pumped most of the oil all over the engine. (I had a black CAT rather than a yellow CAT). They ordered the tube, replaced it and we were on our way after two days on their concrete pad.
I recommend BIG AL's if you are ever unfortunate to have problems in Cheyenne area.I highly
That was not the end of problems. One Saturday morning a 5am it sounded like a tornado struck the motor home. My wife and I jumped out of bed and looked out the window. Our power awning was whipping back and forth. We managed to get it rolled up with arms pointing away from side of motor home. Next day I called a mobile RV repairman and he took one look and suggested I call my insurance co. I called Good Sam insurance and was told to take the motorhome to get an estimate which I did. APACHE RV SALES in Hazelwood, Mo. Told me to leave it and they would inspect it. They called an hour later and said they were through with it. They didn't even check it but sent an estimate for over $3,000 to the insurance Co. Good Sam's NATIONAL GENERAL INSURANCE stalled until I secured the awning with bands and came back to Ca. I had my RV repairman (DUANES' MOBILE REPAIR) to check it last week and he did some slight adjustments to the awning and said it was OK and it seems to work fine. The arms were slightly sprung. He also did a couple other things and the bill was $140.00. I tried to call the insurance co. and they are not returning my calls. I'm changing insurance companies. NATIONAL GENERALS' premiums' went up over $300.00 a year last renewal.
I would not recommend APACHE RV in Hazelwood, Mo. nor would I recommend National General insurance. I might say I never had any problems with GOOD SAM until they switched me to NATIONAL GENERAL.
Other wise we had a great trip. California has the roughest roads of any of the 10 states we visited.
