Trying something new with balck water drain

For the last 2 months I have been hooking up my black water flush line before opening black water valve. Then I open up the black water valve about 1/4 open making sure it is flowing then I turn on the flush line and let the spray mix whatever is in the tank making sure the line continues to drain. So far it has been working well. Hope it may help if you decide to try it.
  • If I understand you correctly, your using the spray as soon as you open the black tank valve our just before. If thats what your doing, your doing it correctly.
Let the spray have every opportunity to emulsify the solids as you dump.
You might try this in addition:
If your traveling from campground A to campground B and have hookups at B, leave your black tank half or more full. The travel will agitate and emulsify all the solids in the tank and when you arrive at B, drain and use the spray too. You will be surprised at how well it completely empties the tank.

So how did you do it before the last two months? Opening the flush line before or after opening the black tank valve (drain?) shouldn't make any difference unless your tank is 100% full. Also, you might want to open your gray tank valve first (instead of opening the black tank 1/4) for a few seconds prior to opening the black tank. Cleaning up the gray water is a lot less of a problem than the black water.
  • Those are the instructions posted on my flusher, so you're doing it correctly. To add to Hershey's advice...add a bag of ice between stops every now and then. The ice will knock off anything that's solidified on the sides of the tank, melt and flush away.

Now can I finish my lunch....:h:h....Dennis
  • If you use a clear connector on your sewer hose connected to your dump valve, you can see when clear water is flowing and your black tank is clean.
