turn signals not working

1999 Fleetwood bounder Ford V10

Turn signals and hazard signals not working
fuse are fine an so it the relay. I read
the lever switch could be bad. Anyone know the part number
to the switch ? Looks difficult to remove

Thanks
  • Check your lights. Most common turn signal failure is burned out bulbs.
  • Do your brake lights work? If not check bulbs and ground.
If the brake lights work check the flasher. Lots of cheap to fix things can go bad before the switch needs replaced.
  • I'm assuming nether the front nor the rear turn signals are working. If at least one of the four of them is, then the switch and flasher would be less likely to be at fault (particularly the flasher).

I would not generally expect all four turn signal filaments to burn out simultaneously. I suppose it is possible, in theory, but it seems like a rather unlikely coincidence to me.
  • try your 4 way flashers. if they work I would say it's the lever
  • Ford F-53 chassis has a problem with a connector at the base of the steering column tilt mechanism. The first thing I had to have done was a repair of that connector. Luckily, I bought an extended warranty, so it only cost me the $100 deductible. On mine, the lights worked fine when the tilt wheel was all the way up, but when I put it down to driving position, no turn signals.
Try that and see what happens. If the lights work when the wheel is all the way up, but not when down, I would bet on that connector being messed up.
    Good luck.
  • very first thing to check is the ground. if you have a weak ground nothing works right.
  • Hello, * problem fixed *

flashing the lights worked, wipers work so I don't think it was the switch.
Tilting the wheel didn't change anything but i made me look a the wiring at
the steering wheel shaft. There is a relay at the bottom against the firewall.
number#F6tD-13350-AA wiggled it and hazards and signals worked again.
the placement of it pinches the wires, so I'm just going to relocated it.
Yey, every time I drove her i was afraid of being pull over besides it not being safe when trying to change lanes.

    Thanks guys!!!
