Upgrading to a 10,000 reciever?

I have a Dutch Star on a Spartan chassis and installed a 15k made by Curt. It is a universal style not a direct bolt in. I had a removable link fabricated to connect the hitch to the engine cradle. Really did strengthen things up. My original 4k hitch was almost ready to fall off, but hidden by the dust flap. I have since towed 12k about 10,000 miles w/ no issues. Be sure to use a forged ball mount & a ball that will handle the load. Most any truck/ welding shop could do the work. I think my total cost may have been $500.
