Use of generator while going down the road?

I plan and try to go nowhere in a B unless I can spend most of my time outside in a campground. :)

We run it frequently while heading out to the Colorado River in summertime. It's very hot - Over 110 degrees - And it's nice to have the rig already cooled down. We also bring an ice maker and again, it's nice to have it already up and running and making ice.

First river trip is Memorial Day weekend! Woo-hoo!

We have run ours for many things, popcorn, coffee, tv, a/c while driving. Powering the different appliances.

Yup. Nearly $600 to replace the carburetor and some filters. Super expensive - we've learned our lesson.

We do it all the time with our '05 RT190P. We use it for the refrigerator and in the summer months we use it to run the air conditioner, never a problem. You just paid a hefty price for the repair, and the tech is giving you good advice. As for running in a cg, we never do, but we use it on the road. As for gas mileage, I really haven't noticed any appreciable difference, but it keeps the generator in good working order. Safe travels.

I always take our RT out at least once every few weeks year 'round. The vechicle part of your RV needs exercise as well as the generator.

I run the AC off the generator going down the road all the time. In the winter, our Roadtrek AC is a heatpump and I run it full blast on heat for that hourly exercise. You save nothing by NOT using that generator ...........you spend a lot of dough on repairs as you discovered.

Being a bit old fashioned (although mechanics tell me it is no longer necessary) I also run the dash air on all my vehicles every now and then in the winter. By the way, we can cool our RT210 solely with the dash air going down the road regardless of the temp and we live in an area that frequently exceeds 100F in the summer. I have never fully understood why folks must run their coach AC to cool it down but I know many do that very thing.

Unless your RV mfgr. recommends against it, many people use the house air while traveling down the road.

I ran my generator and A/C all the time, it will not harm either.

Just be aware if there is fumes coming in. Normally there will not be, and if the CO meter goes off, then you will need to get the generator's exhaust system repaired, but otherwise, there is no danger or problems with running the generator and A/c while driving.
