V10 drive cam drive

Hi
Looking at buying a Four Winds Majestic (2009) and I would like to know information on the V10 cam drive. Is it a chain drive or belt drive and what are the maintenance/change schedules (mileage)? Cam belts are very important to renew as required by manufacturer. Whilst they say sometimes a chain does not, I have had bad experiences with other vehicles of chain stretch and timing problems.
Thanks
Alan

Can't believe they are getting rid of 09's (already). Our 03 has given us many years of good service. I have no idea or answer to your question.

But thought I'd pass this along if you haven't seen it already. The longest posting about x rentals that I know of. Some good info in it.

Any of your other questions may be answered there too. If not just ask.

There are a lot of people that bought an Ex Rental on that thread and I have yet to see anyone that has had any mechanical problems with them and all have high mileage, the key is good maintenance, which is given to rentals.

    Correct I screwed up. Sorry
  • 400,000 miles on mine. I do get some cold start timing chain slap, which makes me think the guides are worn and the hydraulic tensioner is a little plugged up. I'll probably do a timing chain job within the next 50,000 miles.
  • The chains last well over 200,000 miles on work vans! I would expect them to last well over 20 years in typical RV use at only 7,000 miles a year. . .

    Fred.
  • BTW...weak point on any Ford V6...8...or 10 modular engine is the ignition coil packs (1 for each plug). I keep spares in the glove box and a 7mm socket and ratchet just in case. The coils can be had for about 8 bucks each delivered on ebay

  • It is a chain drive, the stretching problem is taken care with a chain guide that moves out to take up the slack and stretching of the chain, if the oil changes are done regularly with the changing of the oil filter also, you should get well over 100,000 miles out of a V-10.
