After some tent camping, we had a lot of fun in our 1963 VW Westphlia "transporter" conversion. It had a gas turbine furnace, front bench seats made into kids bunk beds, breakfast nook converted into modest size bed, side door swung out and formed a place for the white gas stove, a huge tent attached to the side formed a covered patio and had a porta potty/changing room. Not much room for "stuff". Fairly typical of 60's European style camper conversions. Now these are expensive collector's items. When we upsized to a new Dodge B300 bubble top Family Wagon van/camper conversion, we thought we were in heaven. Most versatile vehicle we ever owned, 3 cross country tours and hundreds of nearby camping trips, and support vehicle for local events, mom's get-around.Oh to be a young family again!
