Washer/Dryer running while travelling??

When we had the mh dw would wash and dry the clothes on the way home. 7 years with no problems.

We just did a load of wash rolling for the first time last week. One of the dogs threw up on the couch blanket and we were running the genny anyway so we gave it a whirl. Everything was fine and we dried it once we were stopped and hooked up. Wouldn't make a habit of it as it was quite difficult just getting to the machine with the coach buttoned up.

I do not recommend doing it.

I used to do it, especially, with the dryer (if the generator is running and you have some laundry to dry, what is the harm, right?)

Well.. the first time the belt slipped off. Took 1 hour to take the dryer out of the compartment, 10 minutes to slip the belt back on.

I blamed it on the bumpy roads and swore I would never do it again..

Fast forward a few years..

Second time the belt broke! Again, 1 hour for dryer removal, plus had to overnight a new belt because these items are not exactly in stock everywhere. So cost me about $150.

I noticed the new belt was a little wider (and fit fine on the motor), so maybe this was a common problem.

I do not think this is a good idea.

I just did drying last time out - seemed to work fine but I have to run the gen. I was just warned on another forum about trying to wash on the road. The drum gets heavy with water and can't take the trauma of being bounced up and down by road shock. Made sense to me so I don't think I will try.

I would not do it. The units are too expensive to risk it. But if I stop for a couple hours at a side tracked destination I would. :)

There have been times that if we were not perfectly level the washing machine would shake the whole coach when spinning. I do not think it is good for the drum of the machine to use it when not level. There is no way that you can be level when traveling down the highway. I would not do it for that reason.

Lots of us do - my major concern is to be sure the tanks have room - another thought is that we will often run down the road with the black tank and doing the laundry as we drive will give me something to rinse the hose out with.

Everyone is different but we love our Splendide and have never had an issue with it.

We don't run it going down the road. I MIGHT consider drying while in motion but I wouldn't ever let it run through a spin cycle while in motion. I would be concerned about a bump causing damage to it.

Although I can't find the reference offhand, my understanding is that Splendide recommends against doing that because the springs which suspend the drum can be damaged/distorted by the forces present when driving down the road. Can't speak for any other brand.
