washer/dryer use

home style wash machine and splendid both have the same drum systems and movement.If you get a splendid out of balance it jumps around same as a house unit

I personally am not in favour of running a washing machine or dryer while driving down the road

I think several of the posters are talking about different units. First, most people who never used their washer/dryer, own one of the Splendide type, all in one models. I had room for one in my last coach, but had no interest in it. Some use them and like them. With this type model, it has a small drum and probably would do okay while underway. I've never owned one, so I don't know if the drum is in a "fixed" position where it doesn't move around, other than in a circle, but my guess is that it doesn't move around like a home unit when out of balance.

A two piece wash/dryer uses a washer with a tub that moves other than in a circle, again, it moves about like a home unit when out of balance. This movement is really not good for the washer while the coach is going down the road moving in other directions.

When you're discussing the Bosch units in the two Prevost coaches, you're talking about a whole different ball game when it comes to installation and quality.

So.....I wouldn't use the washing machine, that is a separate unit, when driving down the road. The dryer would probably be okay, but you're still spinning a barrel one way and bouncing it another way. Will it work...yes....is it a good idea, probably not.

We have the washer dryer and love going home with no dirty laundry but whats on our back and bed. I would NEVER use the washer going down the road. Too many things could go wrong. About the dryer and the wrinkles. don't over load. overloading is the reason for most wrinkles. Take out your clothing as soon as the dryer quits. Less wrinkles that way. Same as at home. Also, a vented dryer works great. If you got one of the unvented ones, it will take your dryer too long to dry anything.

on contrare we have a splendid 2100XC- does good size loads and works great - a little slow on drying

Old guy...they are not all the same. We had a single "combo" Splendid machine in our last coach that did a terrible job. I removed it and we used CG facilities for almost ten years. We currently have separate Whirlpool machines and they are awesome. Smaller loads that home units but beats the heck out of laundry day at a CG laundry room.

Well, obviously you can't use the RV park's laundry system while traveling down the road. So if doing the laundering while going down the road is what you're asking, then of course, you have to use the mh's washer/dryer.

You didn't mention if you are talking about a combo washer/dryer or a stacked washer/dryer. I've had both, and the combo is ok if you don't mind doing the wash/drying "every day", as the combo's drum is small and takes forever. We finally used ours as a hamper. We would use the park's laundry room but on numerous occasions, either the washer or dryer or both were filthy dirty...some with grease, some with massive amounts of dog hair.....

In this mh we has the stacked washer/dryer, while larger than the combo, but not near as large as our home units, we can go several days without using the w/d.

As for doing the washing/drying while going down the road..... I personally would not do this, nor do I think it is a good idea. However, that said, I really don't see a problem with it. Just my personal preferences. As mentioned, full tank of fresh water and an empty gray tank and a generator that can handle the electrical load. I don't see why it wouldn't work.

When we stay in our RV park in Arizona we wouldn't be without our RV washing machine as my wife has a dislike of laundromats. Being so dry in Arizona we have a portable clothesline as the dryer is extremely slow on our unit.

We have the stackable Splendide washer and dryer units. We love them. Have not used a campground laundry except for a heavy cover we use on the sofa for the dogs. We do not use them while traveling down the road.

Now when we see folks lugging baskets of laundry to/from the RV park laundry, we just look at each other and smile.
