- DSDP_DonExplorerWe've been RVing for over 40 years and as a habit, we turn ours off when leaving. Last year, while at Quartzsite, we were watching TV and heard something in the bathroom. I ran back and found a plastic water valve on the back of our toilet had exploded. It blew the back off of the valve, very unusual, but things like this happens.
- bluwtr49Explorer III seldom turn off my water pump off while traveling whether or not we're hooked to an external water supply. Sometimes the park water supply pressure is low so the water pump will augment the pressure for time when high(er) flow is desirable. Also don't shut the water off when we leave the coach unless it will be more than a day.
I've never had a water leak in 30+ years so it's not something very high on my worry list. - sailor_louExplorer

Same here.

Brian - bhivetravelsExplorerI've left mine on for weeks - no problems. Water at faucet/toilet is on demand -- not waiting until I remember to flip a switch.
- azrvingExplorerI normally turn it off when we are done running it and always have it off at night. We always shut it off when leaving for the day. It wont hurt anything to leave it on but some of us dont trust rv plumbing. If you ever hear the pump just randomly cycle for a second or two it can mean it has a slow leak somewhere. Do not ignore this, it's not normal
- pianotunaNomad IIIIf there is room, add an accumulator tank.
I leave the water pump turned off. - Dutch_12078Explorer IIWe only turn our pump off when we're leaving the coach for more than a few minutes. Your pump should cycle on and off as water is used, using its built-in pressure switch. If it runs constantly or cycles on and off frequently when no water is being used, there's a problem that needs to be addressed.
- BTPO1ExplorerI don't feel that you need to turn the pump off since it should not run unless there is a need for water. After saying that I do turn mine off after using it. I usually forget to turn it back on when needing it though.
I never leave the MH for a long period of time with the pump on or the city water on. There is a chance for a leak and I don't want to come back to a flooded MH. It only takes a few seconds to turn it off. JMO
