I just replaced my water pump; it was in its tenth season. You will probably do the same thing.
But, to cover all bases, you might check the wiring to the pump for a loose connection. Mine, being in the storage area under the sink, has had its wiring come loose on more than one occasion. My moving things around under the sink has caused the problem.
After installing the new pump, I placed a piece of thin plywood over the water pump wiring to help protect it.
