Waxing cab over

I use the pole sold by wash wax all and do it from the ground standing in front of the rig. I use all their stuff; it's pricey but very fast and super easy. (Their "red" de-greaser actually gets the bugs off better'n any bug and tar remover I have ever used). I didn't "shop around" much so I have a lot of $ invested; but, the hardware part of it will last me a lifetime, methinks. Big deal - - I'm 87 :) .

To wash it I just have one of those long handle extendable brushes that you can get in the RV section of Walmart. To wax it I've always done some kind of ladder acrobatics. However, if you're being told you're better off not doing that it's probably wise not to. Not sure what may be in your area however when we were in Myrtle Beach there was a company that came to the campground and washed and waxed the RVs. I think it cost me a little over two hundred bucks for them to wash everything including the roof and wax the entire unit. Really cheap money to prevent a nasty fall.

I use two adjustable stepladders and a telescoping aluminum plank. I can reach the outer 2 feet of each side from a stepladder so the plank is used to reach the middle 4 feet. Have the plank positioned so I am leaning into the cabover when standing on the plank, a stable position.

Two tall ladders positioned on either side of the cab so I can insert 2x6s just above the hood to make a scaffold. Tie the planks securely to the ladders. Then vewy vewy carefuwwy do the Elmer Fudd scoot to the center. This is where my electric buffer is handy so I don't have to move too much. Oh and Herself is the official ladder holder when I climb up one of them. With RVs I've always found it helps to have two tall ladders after all the second can be stored on top of the first one in the garage.

Two step ladders and a 2x10x12' plank.

When the motorhome roof needs to be washed, which is whenever it goes out, I recruit the strong young grandson and he climbs up there. As you said, my doctor recommends I stay as close to the ground as possible.

That's what I do, been doing that for quite a few years now :) When she hears me singing the Drifters song 'Up on the roof' she runs in the opposite direction.
