Our Itasca came new with a big 1/2 breaker bar with a lug nut socket forged into the end. It extends straight out from the socket enough to clear either a front rim or rear dually rim and then bends horizontally for you to grip and twist.

Is this a Ford supplied tool or a Winnebago supplied tool? :h

Our Phoenix Cruiser 2007 Ford E350 came with a brown painted wrench that resembles this. I always thought it was supplied by Ford. I felt it did not offer enough leverage.

At CARS we typically use a deep impact socket to loosen because it works much better, colored torque extensions to tighten.

To each their own , but I sure wouldn't use/trust those tq colorized extensions/sticks.
But if there was one in the tool box, I wouldn't use it to take a lugnut off unless that was all you had to remove one with...

That was the idea.

I feel better being better equipped. It cost me around $75 total, cheap peace-of-mind. And it stores so easily too.

About the torqueing of lug nuts...
As some of you know, I volunteer at my church in their CARS Ministry (Christian Auto Repairmen Serving). We are instructed to use the colored Torque Limiting Extensions with the air tools. The trouble I see using them here in the mid-west winter-salt belt, is that the lugs & nuts and wheel lug seat are often rusted. A preset torque is going to be on the loose side of torque when considering the dynamics in overcoming the extra resistance, especially prominent as the lug seats against the wheel. Using a torque wrench is even worse because the torque wrenches at the shop are handled by so many volunteers. One good drop on the floor and the torque wrench can't be trusted. I would think it is also a common problem in a tire center. There is no easy solution here other than checking things yourself once back at home as OFDPOS advises.

Anymore , I don't care what the tire shop guys say !
I don't care about the new fandangle torque twisting colorized extensions they what to try and say works etc.
When I bring in any of my vehicles for tire rotation etc. They are to hand tighten all lugnuts then hand torque with the clicker.
I've stood right outside the bay door many times.
When I get home I recheck all of them...

Years ago brought in to the local ford garage our svt to have an oil change and free tire rotation (at the time that was a promotion the local ford had )
Lug nuts were only suppose to be trq at 90 FT lbs.
A few days later I was out in the garage and wanted to take a wheel off to look at the brake caliper.
Had old junk sockets, extensions etc, I couldn't budge the lugnut. Got the breaker bar out split a cheap socket , got another on twisted the 1/2 extension.
Like I said cheap tools.
Got out the 1/2 tq wrench set it at 125 click ,135 click ,150 click !!
Finally with breaker bar broke one lugnut loose , the lug bolt was actually stretched.
After a heated discussion with the SM , and the owner of the dealership I had 4 new rotors and all lug bolts and lugnuts replaced on their dime.

Two things warp rotors over heating and over tqing them.
I know on much heavier rigs no ,but on those puny little rotors on most cars yes.

I know this doesn't help with what your looking for!
But
1. Don't skimp on cheap tools.
2. Don't let the tire shops hammer the lugnuts on with the impact then grab the tq wrench.
I have watched them so many times use the impact gun and when they put the tq wrench on, it doesn't even turn just click! Those lugnuts are over tqed !

Good find on the Socket! 1/2" drive around the 7/8" size is easy to find, and larger 3/4" drive sockets are easy too.

Most of us on RV.net know it's a good idea to check lug nuts at home, so we know how they run and if we can work them when we need to. I doubt the general public thinks of it. Anymore, when I take the cars in for tire rotation/repair/purchase, I take the wheel covers off and then check every fastener, every wheel. I've found 'em finger tight and over tight on the same wheel. Got the van back one time and the nuts were so tight I got the 3/4 breaker bar to use with a 1/2-drive socket to get them loose.

In the rain, side of the road, in the dark... No time/place for on-the-job training.

With that wrench set you'll be able to show any Ford lug nut...Who's Boss!
