What is this peice of trim called?

My Rallye needed 1" wide which is not common. Found some here. They have other sizes too.

When installing plastic "T" molding around sharp corners, if it isn't looking right, you will want to slit the inside-the-wood "T". Outside corners requires a little removal of "T" material for the compression, inside corners just slit it to allow the trim to follow along smoothly.

When removing material, it should be in wedges, but NO material should be cut away along the back-side of the piece in-view, and only just enough for a smooth curve.

Of coarse, DO NOT TRIM anything if it goes in fine and looks right.

Actually, the advantage of T-trim is that glue is not needed. The barbs on the part that goes into the slot holds it firmly in place. My experience with it is that it is installed using a rubber mallet to seat it. It is much quicker than trying to hold other types of edge trim in place while glue sets and it is self-centering. That is why it is popular with manufacturers.

No doubt. But with as many different sizes of T-molds that there are, I am doubtful I'll find a perfect fit and will be required to do some sort of modification. I'll cross my fingers and keep everyone posted with which part no. I picked up.

You say NEW, is it actually New or just new to you? If in fact it is NEW, why isn't the dealer making it right?

Yes- sorry. New to me. 2001- far from new!

As an aside- it's a very strange 2001. Fleetwood Ralleye- last year of it- 24D model. All brochures say the only ford engine is the 6.8 V10- but mine has the 5.4 V8. Still pulls fine since it's smaller and we don't load it down or tow- but odd they'd put the smaller Triton in there.

We had to redo a table recently, and used the Tmold edging. I made the new piece, set it up on my tablesaw fence, and cut the slot. Perfect fit, with a bit of glue added, it should be there for a long time.

Thanks guys. Ya- it's definitely more like a "T mold" that Rich linked, although edge banding looks like it might be what I'll use to install. The T would be a hair easier- but glue is glue. No clue why it cracked- it's a 2001 so guessing the heat made the plastic brittle.

It's edge banding and you can get it at Lowes. You have to glue it on. Bontragers in Goshen has it too... by the roll
