while on cruise control trans disengages

I don't know how your cruise control works, but if it is vacuum operated and the vacuum gets very low (like pulling a grade) the cruise control can disengage.

Sounds like trans shift linkage is disengaging drive to neutral might be caused by bad motormount or linkage mount.
