What CD-DVD-Bluray player(s) fit in the Winnebago "media center"?

DW & I got a big surprise viewing Winnebago coaches over the weekend: there's no CD-DVD-Bluray player inside, and the inside TVs don't have a slot to accept disks (the outside TV does!). There is a hole in the "media center" for a player, but apparently it's entirely up to the buyer what to have installed, there's no recommendation from Winnebago.

We purchased a Winnebago Vista LX 27N class A new back in May. It does not come with a DVD player and was not an option per the dealer. Rather than have them put in some unknown brand we just went and bought a Sony from Best Buy. It was actually too small for the slot but stuffed in a couple of pieces of foam to hold it in place and it has worked quite well.

Hi - Can you post a picture of this? I have the same coach and looking to put a DVD/Blu-ray player in the multimedia center. However, I notice that when the Multi-media center is open, the components are flat. However, when the multi-media center is closed, then the components would be in an angled position. I'm not sure how good that is for DVD players as I believe they should be flat. Thanks.

That's not really true. DVD sales are still strong through 2018 at $4 billion. Streaming was $12 billion so DVD's are still 1/3 of home entertainment sales. Not everyone has an unlimited data account or stores of media on devices. Young kids are especially entertained by DVD's - cheap and easy. I agree streaming is fazing them out, but it's hardly accurate to say no one uses them anymore. Streaming dominates the home market, but it doesn't dominate the RV segment where data is costly.

I have hundreds of DVDs, if I really like a movie , I want my own copy, I don't want to stream it, everything's I watch it

I have found the DVD/CD slots to be very useful. have an assortment of phone/gps/etc. holders that stick in them.

My 2013 came with a Sony blue ray/DVD 5.1 surround sound player. I've turned it on........never! 🙂 Dish and streaming seams to occupy us.

As an owner of a 2019 Sunstar 35LX I can also attest that the media center only has a "slot" (with a cover) for a DVD. Although the outside entertainment center does have a DVD included with the radio. Personally I was glad, since if you look inside that box you will find an HDMI cable that is connected to the main living area TV. I was able to put a Chromecast type device on it and use it to stream anything from my phone or tablet. This is a much better solution for us to watch what we want. Although I may eventually stick a cheap DVD in there.

Per lunchtime call to Winnebago this and many of their other models do not come with a CD-DVD-Bluray player, and it isn't Winnebago optional equipment. Instead, the RV is wired for cell/tablet streaming and comes with several adapters for different makes of phone/tablet/whatever.

Addendum to my original misleading post. The media center doesn't have a gaping hole where the DVD player would go, there are two punch-out plates, one for audio-video other for satellite. Dealer carries three different brands DVD-Bluray and would give me one but they're all too big to fit in the media center 'hole'.

I am sure you could find one on Amazon for $40 or less.

It is surprising they are making units stream ready and without DVD players. While I agree this is where we are going, until cell companies offer truly unlimited cellular data plans, you'd spend a LOT of money streaming shows and movies. Cable internet streaming is easy and cheap, cellular - not so much.

Normally when I see am item missing like this it is because the dealership needed one for another rig and cannibalized the part.

some minor part was missing on my rv and they ordered a replacement. wanted to cannibalize one on the lot and they said they couldn't since they didn't own the ones on the lot. in effect they would be stealing stuff from a rv owned by the bank?????????

reminds me of years back when I was looking at Bs in baltimore, the ones on the lot all had signs saying "no TV". too many stolen to leave in units. 🙂

This is true. Dealers do NOT own the NEW units they have for sale. The Finance(Floorplan) company owns those units and it is against the Finance policy to ROB parts. Get caught doing that and you risk losing your Floorplan company. Especially after the 2006/08 meltdown. It is actually cheaper for the dealer to Overnight the needed parts, rather than pay a technician to rob the part install and then go back and install new part on robbed unit. Doug
