- J-RoosterExplorerI don't winterize anymore I use my coach year around! When I used to let my coach sit during the winter I would change the motor oil. IMHO it's just a matter of choice!

Geez... I hear tell that your babies will be born naked if you don't change your oil every millennium under the blood-red moon half-way through the Granny Smith Apple germination cycle................
Go with the recommendation of the manufacturer of the engine, and use the oil/filter that they recommend as well. I personally change mine once per year, at the beginning of travel season, just after taking the big girl out of storage and draining out the pink stuff. According to many posters on here, I also waste time and money by cleaning my black tank after every trip and sanitizing my potable water tank/ lines a couple times per year.
As to the transmission without a dipstick....I have four vehicles that are made that way. Two Toyotas, one Chevrolet and one Ford. I'm not aware that there are any RVs like that but there sure are passenger vehicles that have non-serviceable transmission fluid reservoirs. Supposedly they have lifetime transmission fluid..............
what year and model vehicles(all 4) that you own have no trans fill ports?
2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser
2008 Ford Expedition
2012 Toyota Tacoma
2013 Chevrolet Suburban
the first 3 have trans fill ports(plugs)
no dipstick tubes at all
the chev has a regular GMC locking dipstick system
You are correct on the Chevy...my mistake. All others I should have referred to them as non-CONSUMER-serviceable. - usersmanualExplorer

You were supposed to put fluid in those power-slides!? :B
Way back in 1956 one of the Chevy V-8's that I restored had the factory AC and this meant no transmission dipstick and the only way to check and fill the Powerglide transmission was through a removable plug on the side of a special plate. The AC box under the hood prevented access to the dipstick so it was eliminated on some cars and just left inaccessible on others. You checked the transmission fluid just like the differential was checked.
I preferred when they didn't drop into gear until you hit 4,000 rpm. Could always catch rubber and smoke off of those nylon tires in the school parking lot, but you had to chain down the motor mounts or you would hit the fan shroud. - usersmanualExplorer

My owners manual says change oil before you store it. I always change the oil and filter in the fall before we put it in storage.
even if u only go 2 or 3 K miles? Mine(cummins manual not owners manual) says once a year also but says u can go 20000 miles. I change every 3 -4 years Iam not wasting $300 of money every year for no good reason. each person must do what they feel is best. - rgatijnet1Explorer IIIWay back in 1956 one of the Chevy V-8's that I restored had the factory AC and this meant no transmission dipstick and the only way to check and fill the Powerglide transmission was through a removable plug on the side of a special plate.
