Winterizing Question

So I'm new to RV'ing. I'm taking my Class C out this weekend. During the day, Saturday will be around 50 degrees, but dropping to below freezing at night. I don't have heated tanks or water lines. Do I need to worry about water lines freezing? I'd like to be able to fill my water tank and use the bathroom.

Thanks in advance!
  • Not sure if anyone mentioned this but I often go out winterized and bring a water container to fill the toilet each time. When heading home, drain it and maybe flush down a little antifreeze. For drinking water bring bottles. For dish washing, just use paper plates. All you will be missing is the shower. Once winterized, I only unwinteuize if I am heading south for a while.
  • You would need it to get a lot colder than just below freezing to do any damage and if you are in it with the heat on not an issue.

If you are filling the hot water tank turn it on before bed to heat it up and then shut it off if you like and it will be more than fine.
  • As long as you are in it and have it heated shouldn't be a problem if it's not too far below freezing too long. The waste tank valves might freeze preventing dumping for awhile and the hose might freeze if you are hooked to water.
  • On our way down to Florida in December we use pink stuff to flush the toilet before it gets warm enough to sanitize and fill the Fresh Water Tank.

AZ. South TX. MX. This will help that question..:B

IF you are in it, you should be good, but if you have no heat,I still doubt if it will freeze any where serious. It would have to get pretty nasty cold-1 or below before you have real problems. ,,BUT for permanent make sure the whole system is drained and even the hot water tank/s.
    Have a great week end.
