Winterizing

What are the thoughts on putting antifreeze thru the lines, then draining or using the pump to remove most of the antifreeze? There wouldn't be any water left in the lines, only a small amount of antifreeze, that would be in the low points. We are leaving in Jan. for warmer climates and thought this would save some time flushing out the lines of the antifreeze.
  • We don't flush the antifreeze out. Run the facets a few mins, flush the commode a couple of times. Done. I spin the washer out before use in case the pink stuff stains.
  • I don't winterize anymore since I'm in the lowlands of AZ. but before coming down here for the winter I would drain the water from my coach (including the hot water tank) take my coach out for a drive up and down hills then I would put the pink stuff in. Never had any problems!
  • Don't see any harm in it. But I don't see any gain in it either. Only takes a minute to open the low point drains when you are ready to use the trailer again. Actually if you drain it out and the remaining drops of antifreeze dry out, like the mess you would have in the sink if you do not clean up the antifreeze, it may actuall take longer to reconstitute the dried up antifreeze and get it flushed out of the lines.
  • I don't see any problem with it since the antifreeze will displace all the water. However, I question any time savings you would actually gain because you still need to flush out the system. In any case, what you are proposing seems fine to me. Good luck.
