I put blocks of wood or tennis balls under the wiper arms also. I usually find them for $5 apiece. When they begin to streak I wipe them down with 400 grit sand paper to remove the hard oxidation that builds up on the surface,then wipe with a light coating of lubricant and they are good for another year or so. They used to sell silicone rubber blades that lasted longer but I have not seen these in a while. I just bought 28 in blades that Ralph showed pictures of for $3.99 a piece on sale, one of them does not make contact with the windshield in the center due to the re curve of the blade or the spring tension being too low, so I had to remove some of curve.
