Probably the "thought I was braking, but really floored the gas pedal" problem.
The picture of this, and other, stick built MH's make me more convinced than ever, that buying an older Bluebird Wanderlodge was the correct decision. Built on a crash certified, all steel body and frame. Bluebirds have rolled onto their side, been pulled back upright, and driven off.
The extent to which regular RV's literally self destruct in relatively minor accidents, is appalling.
Salesman:
"Good morning/evening Mr. Pierce.
This RV, should you purchase it, may self destruct at any time.
As always, if any of your friends or relatives are injured or killed, my secretary will disavow any knowledge of this transaction."
Wow! Great plot for a TV show!
The rollover recovery would fit right in with "Flippin' RVs" on cable.
But seriously, obviously - *everyone* should have a Bluebird!
Insurance Companies will go broke in no time..:C
Or at at least, premiums will hit rock-bottom prices!
Of course, *if* you find a nice used Bluebird....check for hidden rollover damage..:S

I noticed that also. How many dead people does it take to be a tragedy?
A woman lost her life and the reporter described the incident as "nearly" a tragedy. He is not a good writer. - 2gypsies1Explorer IIIThere are at least three different links in the post. I don't think anything was changed to the original one - just later added information as it was found out. They're from different sources: Quad-City Times, TV6; TV8.
I don't think any of the posters here would do any better with reporting after reading these speculated comments:
"driver passed out, too old, too young, passed out, too fast (yeh, at the pump?), heart attack, stroke"
"reporter fresh out of college English major, no mention of the RV driver (it did say he was taken to the hospital, human interest story (the 1st article accurately gave every single detail before later information could be had), minimum wage feeder to the big leagues, needs to return to school, I haven't yet seen any pedestrians that weren't in a RV (Really? At a service station?)"
What good does all this speculation really do? You're just writing your own stories. - rgatijnet1Explorer IIIPartial update with identities: RV accident

Anyone else notice the story has been edited?
Yes, and it reads better by this writer than it did by the original. Those that read the original felt the same way, those that read the edited one are correct. The main alteration was the first two paragraphs which focus on the tragedy of the woman killed. The original article called it a "near tragedy" and focused on the children not the RVrs wife....still sad...Dennis - tbredExplorer IIAnyone else notice the story has been edited?
- Bucky1320ExplorerMan! Some of you sure can get your shorts in a wad over the writing of a story where very limited information was available at the time of the writing. I guess rv'ers must be some of the best writers out there, and ought to be writing for the QC Times!
As someone who has owned a newspaper, I can tell you that there is very little money in news anymore, and in the world of IMMEDIATE reporting that lives forever, some will second guess your work all of the time. How can anyone be surprised that the very best journalists aren't writing today?
What I think some are excited about is that they suspect this is going to be another story that eventually looks bad on groups that they belong to. Maybe periodic driving tests should be required to drive an RV or anything for that matter. - NaioExplorer IIOMG, that poor guy.
Imagine how he must feel. And now, for the rest of his life, every time someone asks him what happened to his wife... - rskrbinaExplorerVery sad. Hate to see a thing like this happen.
