You have cross-posted the same problem in two topics. How are we supposed to help you if you are carrying on two separate conversations?

  • As Bill said, charging while driving is not related to the inverter/charger. While driving, the engine-driven alternator does the charging.

The inverter/charger only charges the batteries with on generator or shore power.

Boiling batteries could be a wrong selection for battery type/technology, a problem in the inverter/charger OR a bad cell in one of the batteries.

So, again, what is the charging voltage and what type batteries do you have (wet cell, gel or AGM)?

The inverter would not be charging when driving. The inverter can only charge your batteries when plugged into shore power or running the genset. If the settings on the inverter display are changing themselves you likely have a problem but it could be internal or a problem with your wiring. What kind of batteries do you have. Are they all the same type? What voltage are you seeing before charging starts? Does the charging start in bulk mode and taper down? What voltage are you seeing after the charging starts? What type of batteries do you have? How many amp hours is your battery bank and is the Xantrex set to that rating?

  • A good start would be for you to post what it is and is not doing.

Said another way, what is working/not working.
  • Can't help but I took mine to a "factory service" place 3 times --first 2 it quit in a week third time I by passed all the wiring and although he said it was fixed I have never hooked it back up. That was 5 years ago. I have a jumper from chassis battery to house batteries and charge them while driving. I also carry a battery charger in case I need to charge the house while parked for an extended period. Kind of Red Neck but it has worked fine for me.
