Your Opinion on Forest River

Does anyone have any experience with a 2016 Forester diesel on Mercedes chassis? It's never been titled, at a dealer asking $79,000. Would like to know the good or bad about such an rv. Thanks in advance.

Stop by any shop that repairs the Sprinters and try to find a mechanic that would be willing to buy one for himself. It might take you a while, since the vast majority are going to decline getting involved in that mess. I've got a buddy that works on them, and generally does the complicated work that the other half dozen techs. in the shop can't handle. Wow, does he have interesting stories about some of the legendary German engineering.

The commercial van market is full of stories of high volume users, everybody from Ambulance companies, to big residential service providers, who fell hard for Sprinters and bought whole fleets of them. five years later, the things are out of warranty, and the cost of keeping them on the road, and lack of reliability, result in them being replaced by E chassis and Transit vans, or anything else that won't need continuous expensive repairs and service.

Being a current and former owner of Forest River products......Caveat Emptor.

I can not comment on the Forester line, but from what I've personally experienced the only thing worse than Forest Rivers shoddy assembly and total lack of quality control is their manufacturers warranty. The entire drawn out process is designed to "run out the clock".

Ooooooow, that hurt....:E

Problem is, it's the truth. If you buy any FR product, expect shoddy workmanship and visits to the dealer to repair it under warranty, which is only a year so you are running against the clock.

If you are handy with tools, repair the shoddy workmannship yourself, you'll be farther ahead. FR products are basically high priced junk.

My FR is clearly constructed better than the entry level we had prior. I think to get any better quality, the price goes up exponentially. It's the sweet spot in value that I'm willing to pay right now.

Too many geezers, self appointed moderators, experts, and disappearing posts for me. Enjoy. How many times can the same thing be rehashed over and over?

We just traded in our 13 y/o FR Wildcat.
It had very few issues and they were minor. It never leaked and looked great when we let it go.
I thin they are a very good middle of the road type of RV.
