Induction cooktops - what is your experince in an RV?

Hi,

I'm working on a Truck Camper build and am considering an induction cooktop. I've been extremely happy w my home induction cooktop so naturally I'm very open to having one in the TC. There are tremedous advantages for an RV if the unit functions well. I do have a 110v induction hotplate and it has some deficiencies. I'm wondering if the RV induction cooktops would be more like the home units or the hotplate.

    To get the full benefit of an induction cooktop, you need 240v. I, like you, have both. The plug-in 110v has no where near the power as the home unit. But, I do like the fact we are not using propane. We are using the power we pay for when we have an electric site.

    Hi,

    I've been using a NuWave induction single burner in the RV for a long time. It is much superior to a hotplate. I've recently added a 2nd one. I find the NuWave to be just as fast as my built in stove top induction in my Condo. The NuWave has steps of 5 f which is much nicer than the stove top with ten settings.

    I did add a 2nd power outlet on a different circuit to the kitchen.

    NuWave induction burner too, DW loves it (not as much as the instantpot). She can use it indoors and out.

    Are you mostly at campsites with power?

    If yes and you like induction cooktops, it can be a good option.

    If you need to crank up the generator, I would prefer propane.

    I prefer propane anyway for the instant adjustment.

    I run the NuWave on my pure sine wave inverter. No propane for cooking in the last 5 years.

    Thanks. I am thinking of deleting the propane cooktop, but I will have Partner 2 burner propane stove available to use inside or out.

    What size battery bank and inverter do you have ? 10-15 minutes of cooking could leave you with dead batteries or worse, a half cooked meal !
