Oil-less Turkey Fryer

Well the one we have, the $99 version, is now $79 at Home Depot.

I've always wanted one and after reading the posts about them I'm sure of it now. Only question is which one?

I'm way confused!

Cooked a 16 lb. turkey on Thanksgiving. Absolutely wonderful results - never had more moist turkey breasts. So easy and no oil to buy and get rid of. I will use this thing regularly for sure.

They work good, but no different than other methods we found.

We have settled on "brine" for our turkey and simply roast it in the oven again. We've had some of the best turkeys every using brine recipes.

Although, not much can beat deep fried turkey when done right!!!!

We used our Big Easy to fry a ten-pounder. WLToo tucked pats of butter under the skin, oiled it with olive oil, seasoned it with salt, pepper, and sprigs of rosemary in the cavity and under the skin, and put it in the Big Easy.

Two hours later, it was heavenly. So glad we have abundant rosemary bushes around here, as this will be a frequent recipe.

ETex2 - Thanks for the tip, we picked up one at Lowes yesterday with the 10% price match guarantee that they offer. Got it for barely over the cost of two containers of oil and can't wait to try it.

I think I have an OCA (outdoor cooking appliance) addiction. I now have two gas grills (1 for home, 1 for camping), the Big Easy, a smoker, a charcoal grill, and a regular turkey fryer that I use for low country boil and other large quantities.

I have one in my garage that I will give away if you live close enough to come pick it up. We used it a couple of times but my husband prefers the smoker. Send me a PM.

Yes ease of clean up would be a worthwhile reason to get an oil less fryer.
Cleaning up the conventional fryer and dealing with the new and used oil is a pain.

I started with an oil fryer and they produce a great turkey, but with the little difference, you couldn't pay me to deep fry one again.

I might add that I use a temperature probe, which I tend to do on everything if possible, and it helps to decide when to start the browning. The only thing to remember is that the cable might be damaged by the heat rise. To get past this I generously wrap that part of the cable that crosses the gap between the edge of the cooker and the basket in AL foil.
