I cannot even bbq, more less use a smoker! Before my husband suffered a TBI he did all the BBQ'ing so I never messed with it as he was the master. Smoking just seems like a huge, involved process that I am uncomfortable trying, but baking/roasting I CAN do! Suppose that is why I enjoyed Super_Dave's posts so much as I could live vicariously through his food adventures!
Oh come on now - YOU CAN DO IT! Can you follow directions and a recipe?
Agreed and I think you are being too dismissive of your talents:).
I live in a high rise so the only times I can easily smoke or BBQ is when I go camping which in my world is currently done with a tent and few specialised cooking tools/appliances.
Still with a few mods (aluminum foil is yer friend:D), some winter reading, and the will, I can smoke ribs, chickens (mostly Cornish hens)or fish/seafood on a teeny tiny Weber Go Anywhere.
My favorite all around book is Steven Raichlen's 'The Barbecue Bible" because he covers wood, charcoal and propane cooking in depth and answers a lot of the nagging questions that you sometimes don't think to ask until the grill is already heated;). Concise writing, good definitions; "Why didn't I think of that?" shortcuts, and enough food porn pictures to make your tongue hang out.
HTH and looking forward to living vicariously through your live fire cooking:cool:.
