I couldn't agree more!! Just as BBQ is different depending on where you are in the US, so is the Mexican cuisine from Mexico's state to state.

Here in Colorado Mexican restaurants out number all but fast food, but that doesn't mean you will like the ones we like. The best you can do is keep trying them until you find one you like.

The food in Mexico isn't bland, it just isn't spicy hot like Tex-Mex is. In fact you are more likely to see fish and seafood than tacos if you are on the coast. Luckily for those that want it hot, you will find salsas on the table to spice it up if you so desire.

Now if you really want Mexican food to your liking, learn to make it. Maybe easier for me with a Mexican honey for 30 years and Grandma on both sides from Mexico. You will find me in the kitchen during most family events, chatting up the girls and learning how to make the foods I love the most. Believe me when I say there is nothing like a tamale fresh out of the steamer and it's even better when you rolled it yourself. :)

Thanks Carolyn...just the type info we are looking for.

Last winter we were in Amado at DeAnza for awhile and went to Tubac but not quite far enough South.

I see by their website that they opened up another location in downtown Tubac.

Well you were right Carolyn...Wisdom's was just what we were looking for.

We are at De Anza RV Resort in Amado for a week. Today, after a stop in Tubac for the touristy things, we drove down to Wisdom's Café in Tumacacori.

Great service and friendly people.

We both had the Combination Plate with a couple of Margarita's. Just what we were looking for...great authentic Mexican cooking and some of the best Margarita's we've enjoyed on the road.

Will go there again before we head out again.

I worked with 3 Mexicans in NM and they ate potatoes, tortillas, jalepenos in everything, tomatoes, tomatillas, sausage, pork chops and shredded pork and lots of eggs prepared different ways, vegetables, greens salads. For a change they ate Jackrabbit stew. They were good cooks and always wanted me to eat with them and they loved Beer and used it for stew. Nothing bland about it.
