Super Moist Chocolate Mayo Black Forest Cake

1 box (16.5 oz) chocolate cake mix
1 c. mayo
1 c. water
3 eggs
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 cans (21 oz. each) cherry pie filling

Spread cherry filling over bottom of 13x9 inch baking pan. Mix remaining ingredients together and pour over filling. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees until done. Cool completely and turn out onto plate.

This recipe is from the Hellman's website. It makes an amazingly moist cake that refrigerates very, very well. I think it tastes best the next day once the flavors have a chance to meld.

I was skeptical about it, but it's my "go-to" recipe for either chocolate or black forest cake.

I like it for camping b/c you don't need to refrigerate any ingredients before you make it if you use farm fresh eggs and a new bottle of mayo - and we never have enough left over to refrigerate the baked cake lol.
  • The minute I saw "super moist" in the thread's title I thought of mayonnaise:).
