Thermoelectric Coolers: recommendations?

Making out my Christmas wish list (a feller's got to think ahead) and definitely want a thermoelectric cooler on wheels to carry refrigerated meds & items on short overnighters. We can get a 12 v to outlet converter so we can take the unit into the hotel room.

Does anyone have a model on wheels they'd recommend? Minimum size we'd need is 20 qts but less than 50 qts. Thanks ahead of time. A search turned up so many but none of the ratings we found talked about long term durability.
  • I bought a Coleman about 6-8 years ago & tested it in my kitchen for 4 weeks,it kept the temp at 38=40 for over 3 weeks then they started creeping up.it has no defrost system so I turned it off for a few hrs with lid open to clear & worked fine again. Prechilling the items is a must. Also I set mine upright because cold air sinks & the only way to get a even temp was to put the cooling plate at the top. Im thinking the advertised temp drop is 40 below what the room temp is but could be off some. I will be using mine this weekend if all goes as planned
  • I use to think they weren't worth it either but my wife found one near a trash bin that only had a burnt out fan...I put a new fan in and I Love how it works. Sure, in 100+ degree heat, it may not get Cold, but in a shaded area or in the MH, my drinks are Ice Cold. All this for a 5.00 investment!!!
  • thermoelectric coolers are highly inefficient on electric and will keep things cool but not cold. I would buy an Engel.
