What's your favorite spaghetti sauce?

Everyone loves spaghetti and it's a fast and easy meal to prepare when camping. I'm not willing to make the sauce from scratch and there are lots of choices at the grocery store...what's your favorite? I haven't found one yet that stands out as the best yet. Also, do you add anything to the sauce to make it better like spices or ground beef?
I'm already making myself hungry....all I need is toasted sour dough, a salad, and a glass of wine and I'll be happy.

Would you believe I live a mile and 1/2 away from the original locale and I've never been there? :S

In Alfredo..... Large Shrimp, plus a generous amount of finely chopped cilantro, some sauteed onion and some cayenne pepper to suit your taste... the DW loves it... 😉

On Edit... i like the sound of crab or lobster as well!!!

What kind of meat do you put in your Alfredo?

I, too, dispute OP's premise. As a youngster I hated spaghetti with a passion. Now as a geezer, I only "dislike" it.

But I do like meatballs in spaghetti sauce. So when it is just Mrs O and me, I eat a bunch of meatballs on a little spaghetti, and she eats plenty of the worms with a couple of meatballs.

But to answer the question: Ragu Chunky Garden Vegetable. Classico and Barilla taste like vinegar to me.

I eat whatever my dear sweet wife puts in front of me and I tell her how good it is. Married 39 years, sauce doesn't matter but she does.

I wont buy nasty premade sauce, goes against every fiber of my Italian being. if you are hard set on not making real sauce (can be made in a huge batch and frozen for use for a large part of the year) you can usually buy half ok sauce from local banquet halls that is at least a bit less nasty.
Q: Whats brown and sticky???

A: A Stick....

Talk about a blast from the past!:c.
Haven't made a roux based tomato sauce in donkey years but the reduction/puree method is still a part of my life:).

The problem with most canned spaghetti sauces is that the number 2,3 or 4 ingredient is SUGAR or HFCS. Some of these taste more like an icky-sweet syrup than what real pasta sauce is supposed to.

This big leap in added sugar by the way is a fairly recent thing.

Mario Batalli has a great recipe for marinara sauce in his cookbook and it can be frozen and then added to to make any type of red sauce you want, Putanesca, Arrabiata, etc.

But my recipe posted up thread is still my favorite and the fastest and the one I saw made most often while in Italy.

Well, I make my own homemade sauce and can it so I have easy homemade food while on the road. But - that's not what you asked about. I do sometimes use a can of Contadina Italian Tomato Paste, and add a can and a half of water (or 2 cans if you like a thinner sauce. It makes a very good sauce, is easy and takes little space in the cabinet.

We like to use Hunt's Four Cheese. Add a pound of browned hamburger and a pound of sausage and onion. Throw in some Parmesan cheese.
