A T & T "unlimited" data wifi hot spot in vehicle

T Mobile plans are listed as Unlmited (limited 4G but unlimited 3G/Edge) and the very same device that AT&T sells to add on, works with T-Mobile if not jailed (And Jailing is illegal for those devices) as well... Just so you know.

And have so offered for several years.

What I am not sure of.. Back in the old days (2g) T-Mobile and AT&T had an agreement that let me use AT&T towers for voice.. I'm not sure if that is still the case and I'm not sure if it applies to DATA... So far every place save one where I have poor T-mobile and try to switch to AT&T,, I have poor AT&T.. and in that place I did not have a teatherable phone so I do not know (Voice worked well though).

The article above mentions a ZTE Mobley device which plugs into the OBD-II ports on most all newer cars/RVs. I would imagine that device could be shared between cars.

The limitation of that device is that it only works when the key is turned in the ignition and isn't suitable for use when not driving since it can't recharge. So I use a regular AT&T hotspot with our WiFi extender so it can be used when sitting still.

No it's hardwired into the car. As a DirecTV subscriber, I have their unlimited data plan. They disable the WiFi hotspot feature on the phones, however. I'm surprised that they're offering it in the cars. I guess they figure with the limitations (key on being most significant) that data usage would be pretty limited.

The third catch is AT&T doesnt work everywhere... haha

It certainly doesn't work here at my house - I have to do the GREEN ACRES TV Show routine and climb a telephone pole to use it here...

This is coming to life with a couple of other network UNLIMITED DATA offerings - Maybe new life is coming out way...

Looks like some limitations. You are required to be in their packaged plan which includes Direct TV. Great for people that already have Direct TV.
