Computer losing internet connection

I have an HP laptop computer about 4 years old, it is running windows 10.
I am using Verizon wireless broadband internet service,
Ellipsis Jetpack for connection.
Am having issues with computer not always recognizing this Jetpack.
I click on the internet icon (bottom right) and it shows the Jetpack is connected, but the computer tells me I have no internet connection?
It will bounce back and forth.
How can I solve this issue? Or can I???
If more information is needed just ask and I will try to give that information.
Thank you on advance.
  • I use a wireless 3G Verizon connection through a router and USB modem, rather than a jetpack. My Win 10 laptop always says there is no internet connection, and displays the little yellow triangle with exclamation point. In spite of that, the internet always works just fine. I have searched the web for an answer and found many ways to fix it, none of which work.

DW's Win 7 laptop recognizes the connection with no issues.

If I use my Verizon phone as a hotspot, Win 10 recognizes the connection.

Great point. I did not make this part clear. Just because your computer has a good connection to the MiFi does not mean the Mifi has a connection to anything!

There are two .. Or 3.. Causes for this.

First on my HP Widoze laptop HP updaed the Wi-Fi Driver Bad upadate broke it.

A bad driver OR A BAD WI-FI ADAPTER Can do it.

Second you say it shows "Connected but NO internet" Two things in the jet pack can cause that

1: Jet packs typically have a very limited number of addresses they can assign, UNLESS you change it. Often 5 sometimes less.. IF you are the sixth item. It won't connect.. I doubt this is your problem however

The next is no WIRELESS internet.. I will explain

    Laptop----Wi-Fi----Jetpack---_Wireless----Cellular Tower

If the Tower is not letting the Jetpack connect, either IT is out of room for clients or it does not have internet.. You connect to the jetpack just fine.. But NO INTERNET This is a carrier issue, nothing you can go save MOVE to a different tower.

the problem may be the jetpack's connection to the web rather than the computer's connection to the jetpack. you can have a solid connection to the jetpack and still have no internet connection.
  • Go to computers 'Control Panel'
    Open 'System and Security'
    Open 'Action Center'

    Then use 'troubleshooting' tool
  • You can be connected to the jetpack, but not have internet service, which is what your computer is showing you. What it's telling you is that the jetpack is not connected to the internet.
  • that MiFi has (2) radio tranceivers
the cellular radio and the wifi/router radio

just because the wifi connects with the PC
does NOT mean you a have a supported Data signal from the cell tower
    on the cellular side

  • Start by power cycling the MiFi. You will also need to look in the menu from your computer and see what the tower signal strength is. Sometimes a good signal does not mean a good connection and sometimes a weak signal will still get you a good connection.
You can do a full system reset and be sure you name the network and reset the security to WPA2 and see if this helps. You can also into All Settings, Network and Internet, WiFi, Mange Known Networks and forget the networks listed. You will be able to reconnect and see if that helps.
  • I think your question will go to the same basket with my topic why my WiFia would show "No service" while having very strong signal and later on will connect to internet, while still showing "No service".
I think it is all black magic.
On practical side, I am mechanically inclined, so fight those things the hard way. It is normal that even computer connects with modem, the modem doesn't have to have internet service. Usually takes about a minute to run the whole cycle, but with signal coming and going, that might never happen.
I had situation in the past where modem had no service for whole afternoon, but left on would connect after 10 PM and once connected will work whole following day.
