Connecting Wally to TV

Thanks, Bill. I was going by what a tech from my original dealer told me. He seemed to know what he was talking about, but your comment makes sense. Install is already scheduled, now I have to call to switch service to Dish... want to be prepared for the install... thanks again!

If your coach was not wired specifically for a Trav'ler then your coach is NOT pre-wired. That's not a big deal but they will likely need to drill another hole to bring the Trav'ler control cable into the coach. The required coax and most likely an unnecessary 12V connection is likely up there but the Trav'ler has a proprietary and mandatory control cable.
In my opinion, you have made the right choice. You will absolutely LOVE the Trav'ler!

Just an update to all who've been following or contributing to this topic...

I returned the Winegard X2, and chose to mount a Winegard Trav'ler to the roof. Busy schedule means a May install date, but I've learned much since my initial post, and feel this, for me, is the way to go.

I've also figured out the satellite access issue, recognizing this is independent from the cable I first confused with it. Further, I've learned my rig is wired for satellite on the roof, so install shouldn't be an issue. When Wally's connected (2), everything should go smoothly, once connected to TV's. Audio/Video component dictates source, and figured out the OTA/Cable switch. Access to run coax to TV's is limited, but of course, necessary. Going to have Dish service soon, before sat antenna install, so am feeling more confident I've grasped the basics better than I had initially, but then, isn't that the benefit of having a resource like this forum?

Bill, what I meant was that connecting the antenna to the RV is simply attaching the cable between each to the port, which is within the power cord bay. Easy. But moving to the inside, the incoming satellite connection - to the Wally - and from the Wally to the TV - is my question... it suggests I must run my own cable from the Wally (which is connected to the satellite from a port I haven't found yet, unless it's the OTA switch) to... back of the TV? Or, A connection point NOT on the TV, but at some other point (which is, of course, connected to the TV), thus completing the circuit.

from what i understand,
you don't have any other choice
the cable from the wally to the dish, must be a direct single cable, no splitter, no Switch boxes,

you can only use an outside connection, IF it is a NEW one you install that goes directly from the wally to the connector for the sat dish, no boxes or anything in between them

the cable supplies power from the wally to the dish, as well as carrying the satellite signal back to the wally from the dish

I'm not the only one here. Hopefully, someone will be able to jump in here to help.

Good luck, I just can't figure out what you are trying to do. The connection from outside to inside is just that. Coax run from outside to receiver. If you are trying to use a Cable connection to make a Satellite TV connection, that will not work in most coaches and will only work in the others with wiring modifications. Run a coax from the antenna, through a window to the receiver and then get the interior wiring setup. After that's all working you can worry about how to get the signal from the antenna to the TV(s).

The AV unit has a dial to change amongst a few options, one of which is satellite, but then don’t yet know if that makes my connection easier... dont know if HDMI goes direct to TV, but sure would address my initial question...just learned this... might be wise to change the TV mount for easier access... since I don’t yet have sat service, can’t test it...

Sounds to me like you bought a junk mounting kit or didn't use one! ... The good ones are very easy to either tilt the tv to access the back connections or remove the set quickly by releasing a few clips.

What is your AV? Is that a switch? Do you already have HDMI going from a AV cabinet to your TV? If so, an HDMI 2x1 switch could be inserted on that.
