Contact/address list in GMail

A few days ago we lost our computer to a lightning storm and have had to purchase a new laptop with Windows 8. While my computer guy was able to recover a fair amount of data from the old hard drive, one thing I haven't been able to locate is the address book I kept in Outlook. About a year ago (or more) I was able to import the contacts into gmail when I got a gmail account. I know that these are on my phone--but I can't figure out where I can find them in gmail so I can develop a new contact list for my computer.

Any ideas? It may be something simple but my "old" mind sure as heck can't find them.

Thanks for any suggestions.
  • On the Gmail website, under the Gmail logo in the upper left-hand corner it should say "Gmail" with a little down arrow after it. Click that and it should give you the option to view your Contacts.
  • Adding to the confusion is the refusal to use "contacts",rather the program is called "People"

    Yeah, google is nutz ;)

the outlook address book is part of the *.PST file (* being the name as in sample.pst) but suggest you use this google search

    maybe this will also help.

  • Go into GMAIL contacts, click on MORE and select EXPORT. Select the radio button for CSV format for Outlook.
  • Thanks for all your help. I was able to download my contacts from gmail and import them into Outlook without a problem. I appreciated the step by step instructions. MaryAnne
