Just now looked at CW on-line. The item I want for DW's Mother's day is available with "Internet only" savings of $4. Good deal but on check-out they added $9.00 for 14 day shipping or $14.00 for 7 day shipping!
Great deal --NOT.

Hello All,

This topic as been discussed several times. We do offer free shipping to all Good Sam members on eligible items for all orders of $99.00 or more. We know that at times we can provide items a a great cost, and thier are times where we can't compete with online retailer like Amazon. We continue to do our best to provide all that we can at the best prices we can.

As this is a topic that will always continue, I am going to close this thread.

Bottom line, don't blame CW if the cost of these "low cost" items is not such a bargain after shipping is added. As stated previously, they have to make a buck. I suspect CW is not making much on the shipping. UPS is the one making a buck on the shipping. If CW gets a few dollars of the total shipping cost, so what. They have to pay to warehouse the items, to "pick" it out of the warehouse when an order is placed, and package it. Their employees do not do this for free.

I thought all that was the cost of doing business. Should be included in the price. They have to do all that for the stuff they sell in their stores.

Print the internet deal and take it to the store, and see if they will honor the price. I do this all the time to Harbor freight, and they honor the internet price. Its worth the the try.
You might also sign up on the CW web site and enjoy the E-sales, Thursday through Sunday. Great prices on most items, in store.

I thought that maybe it was just me, I wanted to buy the Swagmen XC 2 RV bike rack with the low internet price of $169. I went through the process to order and expected free shipping to only get to the checkout and see a $40 freight charge. The put the purchase on hold for me, I work for a company that ships stuff all the time UPS and a 40 pound box should not cost $40 to ship ground. I did some online research and found a few retailers that sold it with free shipping, I ended up paying $179 with free shipping in the end. I don't think I just fell off the turnip truck, they have a right to make money, but you would think members would get some benefits.

I never choose to ship via UPS, just too expensive. I also never order those low cost items on the internet because shipping will always make it more than you bargained for.

I know (personally) LOTS of Internet suppliers who tell me they could GIVE their product away and make good money JUST from the shipping and handling ๐Ÿ™‚ Matter of fact you hear it EVERY DAY on TV where they offer to give you a second "WIDGET" if you just pay separate handling charges.

It's funny though, I ship a lot of items from my Ebay sales. I always compare shipping and they are very close in costs as compared to USPS, a couple of times even cheaper for larger items.

Last thing I looked at on the Camping World website was about a pound in weight (an LP Detector, I believe it was) and they wanted 14 bucks to ship it by "slow boat". This item could have easily shipped in a USPS Priority box for half that amount and been here in two to three days. Camping world... I love your store but, if you don't get with the program on the shipping, Amazon Prime is going to bury you.

Maybe that was just a promo I saw a few months ago that expired. I have a hunch it will be cheaper from amazon and free shipping for anything over $25 and no tax. I haven't seen any deals at CW. On our last trip I passed by a couple of of their stores and bought a couple of things. Most of them had to be returned because they didn't work. A couple of lighters I just trashed because they didn't work. Back in the 80s they had a really good reputation. Not so much anymore.

I thought it was supposed to be free shipping for GS members. CW tires me out. Lots of apologies keep coming but they keep doing the same thing.
