Dish 1000.4 Western Arc aiming

I have a Dish Network 1000.4 with the Western Arc LNB setup in Northern OK. My tripod shaft is true vertical, I have the elevation and skew set correctly for this Zip code, and I have a signal on my BirDog meter of 100% on the 119 Sat with a totally clear view of the southwest sky. Inside on my tv-screen when I do a Menu-6-1-1 and check 119 I get a value on the scale of 60+ a check of 129 has a value of 45+/-. When I check 110 the value jumps up to 45+/- green but then immediately changes color to red and the text says Wrong Sat - EchoStar 129 West.

I did a reset of my receiver by disconnecting the coax and ran a check switch through the 38 tests. Do you think that my LNB is broken internally? There is no sign of damage on the outside.
  • How protected is the connection at the LNB ? Maybe, disconnect, inspect, clean it then reconnect & try again. How old is the LNB ?
  • I only worry about the 119. If I'm getting a strong signal on it the others will come in. Finish your setup after the 119 shows a strong signal and lock on sat.
  • go to dishpointer.com. enter your location and select 1000.4 dish. Check your skew settings. the 110 satellite will be to the left and up. If you are looking for HD, most of it is on 119 or 129.
  • Sounds like you have not yet done a check switch routine. Your receiver will not get the proper input until that is successfully completed.
  • To answer one question, my system including the lnb was new this spring. And for Bill, after I ran the check switch without cable connection for the 38 tests to clear out the receiver I then reconnected the cable and ran a check switch again for tests 1 thru 4. After that my system completed the signal and directory download.

I then checked the guide and found channels that we normally receive that must be on 110 are not listed so that is when I went to menu-6-1-1 to see sat signal strength that I reported above.
