Dish Pathway 2 portable w/vip211z receiver.

Question

I should have asked before I ordered it. Will my older analog TV's work with my new Pathway 2 portable set up with the VIP211Z receiver?? No problem on my other dish 322 receiver. It shows an HMDI connection to the TV. I don't think that exist on my current ones as I've never had High Def and not an issue now. I've been waiting for a reason to change out the TV's but they both work fine. Also, will the VIP211Z receiver work with my permanent mounted HD Dish at my house or only with the Pathway 2 portable? TIA

The 211Z has a component out (yellow) video connection. It does not have a coax video out. You would be better served with a 211K receiver which has a coax video out and will work with the Pathway X2.

As said, the 211z does not have a coax RF output connection. You could pick up a simple modulator at Walmart though, that uses the component outputs to generate the coax connection your TV's need. And yes, your 211z will work with your home dish, but you'll need to run a "Check Switch" from the setup menu when changing between the two.

TIAThe modulators use standard RCA style cables (1 composite video, 2 sound) to connect to the 211Z. The modulator output is a standard coax 'F' connector. The modulators are typically selectable to output on either VHF channel 3 or 4. Mixing a 211Z and 211K on the same account causes no technical problems. Note that Dish will only allow one 211 on the same account if you have a Hopper for your residential service for instance.
