Yup. And borders on "Bait And Switch".

Sometimes this happens for legitimate reasons.
Those Sunday newspaper fliers are prepared weeks/months in advance and sometimes the container ships from China don't arrive with the right material to sync-up with what the flyer says will be on sale that day.

But I don't doubt that some of the time, it really is the old bait and switch tactic being employed.

A request for a rain cheque may well have determined if there is likely to be any availability of the product.

It's called "Bait and Switch" CW isn't the only one to do it.

No Camping World store near me and I never made a special trip to one, way too far away. We occasionally stop in if we happen by one on our camping trips. Last year, we found a Camping World store just off I-90 a couple of miles north of Rapid City, SD to be one of the best stocked stores we have ever been in. :)

Though, we weren't looking for any "special sale items", so we didn't take notice. :@

I've had the same thing happen with other stores too .... specifically .... Wall Mart. One year we were looking for new patio furniture. The flier had exactly what we wanted and had been looking for, for a long time. We took off to our closest Wall Mart and sure enough, there it was, on display! We thought! Yahoo!

Well, we couldn't find any boxes or sets on any of the shelves at all. We searched and search and then started calling other Wall Marts to see if they had any. None. We then asked for management and started raising a fuss.

He said "corporate" sent only the one set of furniture, and it was to be used as a display, and "No" it could not be ordered on line! What?????? Well, more fussing and by now, we're getting pretty vocal, screaming "FRAUD!" and in order to quiet us down, he ended up selling us the open box floor model. We took it and actually got a lower price because one chair had a slight defect and now they had no display at all with no prospect of ever getting another one. We still have it, it's on our front porch as I'm writing this. A simple fix on the messed up chair and it's still doing very well.

So, yea .... it can happen. When it does, you just gotta go with the flow and hope you get lucky! (but my flow was pretty vocal).

I went as well as 3 other people I know. No one saw the chair and 2 employees said they never had any of those for that price. I was not expecting to get one since I almost never set foot in the store anymore but thought I would try. Nice advertising of something you don't even have a single one of.

I wonder how many went looking for the recliners and ended up buying something else?
