Hauppauge help needed

I've got a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-950Q USB tuner with the WinTV v7 software. I've had it for some time but just now installed it in preparation for a 2 month trip in our Chalet a-frame Pop-Up for possibly watching our shows when in a place that has cable.

I don't have cable at home so I've hooked it up to my Dish Network Hopper satellite tuner via the composite connections.

I get a picture & sound on my laptop BUT the picture is zoomed way in so most of it is lost. The strange thing is that I get a proper picture while manually changing the window size but it reverts back to the zoomed image as soon as I stop changing the size.

I have the software set to 16 x 9 & auto sizing and zoom turned off. I've tried all the other video settings without success.

Is there something I've missed to turn off this zooming?

FYI: I've tried setting this thing up using Windows Media Center but no success yet.

what are the display settings on the laptop ?
and how large is the display in inches
a small 11" display with a 1000*800 resolution will be zoomed in and overloaded by a HD signal..
just something to check
increase the laptop display to a greater resolution IF possible

also just so you know.. there are free 3rd party tuner PVR software available, which might solve your problems
