HDMI from room to room

Does anyone have a solution for passing HDMI to HDMI cable from through a wall without having to drill a giant hole? I know I can convert it to a lower grade signal but I would like to keep the HDMI quality.

I know there are expensive transmitter/receiver devices that can do this but I would rather stay cheap.

Thanks

If it just TV you want to watch is multiple places in the RV, DTV Genie and Mini Genies work well on existing coax. We even send it across the road to the two TV in our commuter travel trailer, as the previous owner of the site had a conduit run unground across the road. DTV antenna and Genie are are on lot A along with a 2 Channel HDDVR, and two Genie minis on lot B all via DTV SWM technology. We can watch stuff recorded on the Geni and HDDVR on any TV via DTV whole home.

Hard to say without poking around inside your RV but they generally aren't air tight.

We've had pretty good luck finding existing holes to fish cables thru. Usually, it's going down into the underbelly along and then back up. Just make sure not to conflict with the slides or other moving parts.

A good option, Cat5 even with connectors on do not require a big hole although the "mini HDMI" end is about the same size as Cat5 ends..

Folks do need to be aware that some of these extenders are "passive" or draw power from the HDMI ports to avoid the need for external power supplies..

Passives and phantom ones that draw power from the HDMI ports tend to fail much easier than ones requiring an external supply..

Had this issue with connecting remote PCs to projectors mounted from the ceiling. Went through a few passive extender failures until I replaced with ones with external power supplies.

The one 1492 posted does require the use of the included power supplies which should be more reliable.

I used a HDMI splitter and HDMI to coax and back to HDMI for the kitchen TV.

It worked great, no running of cables when that is hard to do. I had one on the trailer, I can turn the TV on Satellite and pick a channel, turn on the transmitter and go outside and watch the same program outside.

The new trailer has a satellite plug outside so it is now just sitting in my garage collecting dust.

Ouch, $250 MSRP seems a bit rich compared to a cable..

Drilling a hole in the wall and running $20 worth of cable would seem to be much more in line with OPs request..

Alternately as someone else mentioned, HDMI wall jacks can also be put in..

agreed its costly !

I was lucky enough to have a coworker who had one that he didn't need any more..... AND I wanted the TV outside and was NOT drilling holes to access an HDMI cable outside....

That's how I got mine and it worked awesome !

Good chance you already have many holes you can make dual purpose. The TV will plug into an outlet correct? Pull that outlet out and see if you can fish your HDMI cable.

On my trailer running wires in the ceiling would be easy. You can remove things like the ceiling vent covers and AC vent covers to access the attic space.

There are HDMI wall plates for that purpose. You still have to cut a hole in the wall, but the plate doesn't look any worse than an electrical outlet.

There is a "mini HDMI" connector which would require a smaller hole that you can use..

You will of course need a mini HDMI to HDMI adapter to get the cable end back to standard HDMI size..

Converting to a lower grade signal but keeping HDMI quality is a contradiction in terms, but you are already aware of that.

Running the wire (through a hole) or wireless are about your only options.
