Millenicom Data usage checking improved

From their FAQ

"Data usage

What if I have usage concerns?
Millenicom does not charge overage fees nor do we throttle accounts. In the event a client consistently or egregiously goes over the usage threshold they will need to purchase an additional plan.

How do I monitor my usage?
To check your usage, simply go into the Members Center and click on the Products tab. Once there, you can select the drop-down menu and click on your plan. Then scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see your information displayed in the usage field. Updates occur every Monday, Wednesday and Friday."

Nice improvement
  • Good to know. Before I think it was just on Mondays, right?
  • Or get a Cradlepoint router with WiFi as WAN and know instantly what your usage has been and even see it tracked on an hourly basis. The routers will send alerts via email when you approach the plan maximum.

If Millenicom wanted to be proactive they would email out usage to their account holders and also send out an alert then they are getting within 90% of the cap.

Millenicom does not throttle accounts which would be much better than what they actually do which is shut down the account for the remainder of the billing period with less than 24 hours notice.

What we like about the Cradlepoint is that with its tracking we can use the entire 20GB as when we used less than 12GB the remainder was lost and no rollover occurs. We are paying for 20GB so it is great to be able to actually use the full 20GB with no worries.

Totally false information. They will notify you, when you are way over, then work with you to see if there is a problem that can be addressed. They notified use of the heavy usage when it got to 18 gig then worked with us, starting at the 21 gig use point, when we got caught in the known Verizon phantom use problem and did NOT shut down the account until we had exceeded 80 gig and almost 2 weeks after they noticed the large usage.

I find them a great company to work with and they do take care of their customers.

What model of Cradlepoint do you have? Thanks.
  • You can request usage on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and then wait for Millenicom to respond with your usage amount one to two days later.

With the Cradlepoint MBR 95 and 1400 models there is a function/feature they call Wifi as WAN. We have ours setup so that all the devices including our DVD player for streaming go to the Cradlepoint 1400 which in turn connects to the Verizon Mifi device (we use Millenicom as the Verizon reseller). We can track in real time the data usage and see it graphed out minute by minute.

We pay for 20GB per month and there is no rollover so if we use 15GB we still pay for 20GB. With the Cradlepoint we get to use the full 20GB each month. The router makes it easy to set a warning point at say 85% and it will send out an email alert. It can be set to shutdown when a certain usage has occurred and it will automatically reset to zero with the start of the new billing and usage cycle. The router can be powered with either AC or 12v DC so we can take it with us anywhere.

    .

What? there is no requesting...they are reporting AUTOMATICALLY the usage to your account on those days.
