No internet on lap top

HP-tried the FN key and the wifi button. Nothing happened. Tried to do a restore but got error code. Googled it and found a you tube video. It didn't work. I have a repair disk and a complete set of recovery disks but wen I insert them they will not load up. I have used them once before and they worked then.
My wifi button showed a white light. It now has the orange light which indicates wifi turned off.
I typed a long explanation of other steps I have taken but when I hit the post button I got the dreaded server down and lost that message.
Leaving on a trip tomorrow and will be gone several weeks and some campgrounds will not have internet. When I do have it I will try to post what I have done.
