They are different animals, and you really can't compare them, even if you think you can.
Do you have the kindle app on your nexus? I had a kindle fire and when it died I replaced it with a nexus 7 and can read all my books from amazon . I don't think I can tell the deference as far as the reading app. I like the fact that it share's all the apps with all my android device's and it makes a sweet GPS.
